The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) recognizes the significant potentialof forests in mitigating climate change. In its 4th Assessment Report, IPCC clearly concludesthat “a sustainable forest management strategy aimed at maintaining or increasing forestcarbon stocks, while producing an annual sustained yield of timber, fibre or energyfrom the forest, will generate the largest sustained mitigation benefit”
