Avrim Lazar named President of the International Council of Forest and Paper Associations
Ottawa, Canada,
May 7, 2005
The International Council of Forest and Paper Associations (ICFPA) is pleased to announce that Avrim Lazar, President and C.E.O., Forest Products Association of Canada (FPAC), has been named President of the ICFPA.
“I am honoured to have been elected President of the ICFPA at this very important time for our industry. As a collective, the ICFPA represents an enormous capacity to facilitate significant positive social, economic and environmental change. I certainly look forward to working with my ICFPA colleagues over the period ahead in this regard,” said Lazar. The ICFPA provides a forum for regular meetings for executives from the member associations to discuss issues of interest to the international forest and paper industry. Policy issues that the ICFPA has dealt with include mutual recognition of sustainable forestry standards, climate change, and the environmental preferability of forest products. “We have come a long way in working cooperatively, sharing ideas and information and earning the respect of other international bodies,” said W. Henson Moore, past President of ICFPA (2002-2004) and President and C.E.O. of the American Forest & Paper Association. “I turn over the presidency to Avrim with full confidence in his wisdom and leadership.”
Mr. Lazar has been elected President for a two-year term. Mr. Lazar’s bio is appended to this release.
